Review - Miss Jessie's Products

*The above picture is only an example of the samples I bought. The Sample Bag I bought had about 10 sample packets in a sandwich size zip lock bag, and was purchased by me at my local beauty supply store for $6.99*

Being newly natural, it's easy to become what naturals call a "product junkie" because there are lots of products you want to try to see if it works best for you. But as a wife and mom on a budget, I make a conscious effort not to buy a bunch of things that will end up barely used and living in my bathroom cabinet.

So, in February (only 2 months post Big Chop) when I saw this sample bag at my local beauty supply store, I was interested in experimenting. And for that price, I figured "Why not?"...especially since Miss Jessie's products are so expensive (in my opinion).

So, here's my honest review.

Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo - It smells sweet, and as the name indicates, it has A LOT of slip. My hair doesn't feel too stripped after using it. It's Ok, but for me, it's not worth changing to at this time. My staple, Shea Moisture, does just fine.

Super Sweet Back Treatment (Deep conditioner) - It smells "super sweet" and edible. It does an ok job. However, it doesn't really make my hair feel as soft as my staple (Shea Moisture Anti-Breakage Masque).

Curly Buttercreme - It smells minty, and even tingles a bit (in a good way). Not bad, but I still prefer my Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

Pillow Soft Curls - It smells like soap (hand soap or laundry detergent). I used it for "quick coils." My hair feels soft, but greasy to touch. I used it before bed, but the soapy smell was too strong, I had to wash it out first thing the next morning.

Baby Buttercreme - The name is exactly right: it's butter! It was way too oily for me, and didn't feel moisturizing at all. It felt like oil just sitting on (and dripping from) my hair. I washed it out after a few hours, because I was getting oil all over the place (on my clothes, hands, couch, pillow...). Perhaps, I put a bit too much, but I don't think it would have made a difference.

There are 4-5 more sample packets in the bag I bought, but I won't be trying them. The 5 samples I've already tried have shown me that Miss Jessie's products are not for me. Good thing I only bought a sample bag, or I would be regretting spending hundreds of dollars for a set of their products.

Have you tried any Miss Jessie's products? What do you think? Please, share by leaving a comment below.
